The Christmas Cantata that moved the people’s hearts yesterday has also affected today’s seminar.
In the morning, the choir and orchestra performed with all their soul and completely melted the hearts of the attendants.
During the fantasy-like performance, the audience was awed and showed their appreciation.

Next, Pastor Ock Soo Park explained about how the power of the Word of God can overcome any problem, no matter how despairing or hopeless. The problems of the man with an infirmity for 38 years, who didn’t have a single strand of hope, were nothing in front of the Word of God. The Word always wins, according to the fundamentals of strength. As Pastor was preaching this word, the audience was able to feel the strength of God and their hearts were moved into the world of hope.

In the morning, Pastor Ock Soo Park went to do an interview at the biggest Christian radio station called ‘Premier Gospel.’ It is a big radio broadcasting station that has ten studios and about 100 employees.
The Christians in England are usually elderly and they like to listen to the radio. The director of ‘Premier Gospel’, Muyiwa Olarewaju, is a radio and TV singer, a songwriter and a broadcaster. Mr. Muyiwa was currently doing a two hour radio program called ‘Gospel Tonight’ at 11 each night. Through the phone call with Missionary Oh Sun Gwon, the Good News Mission Church and activities were introduced, along with an introduction of this upcoming event. On May 14th, Mr. Muyiwa personally came to the conference and was very happy as he had an interview with Pastor Ock Soo Park and heard the gospel. Also, the recording of the interview is to be aired soon.
Mr. Muyiwa had a special heart towards the Korean church. His father was a Christian in Nigeria, but was assassinated by a Muslim. He felt close to Korea because his mother had received a lot of help and training from a Korean Christian group. He saw the Bible Outreach flyer and contacted us because he saw that it was from a Korean church. |
That was how the interview with Pastor Ock Soo Park was carried out.

Mr. Muyiwa asked Pastor Ock Soo Park first about how his spiritual life and how the mission started, which naturally led to sharing testimonies.
Pastor Ock Soo Park told him that he realized himself exactly, how he no longer believes in his thoughts and how he has been relying only on the word of God to preach the gospel until now.
Mr. Muyiwa was very interested and asked Pastor Park about how to meet God and how he became a disciple of Jesus.
“In the Bible, it says that there is work that God does, and whatever humans try to do, it is difficult and complicated. However, the work that God does is clean, simple and perfect.”
Also, Pastor opened to Isaiah chapter 53, verse 6, which said, “Yet the Lord laid on Him the iniquity of us all.”
“Just like how you never actually fly an airplane even though you have ridden a plane over 100,000 miles, if you completely hand over the wheel to Jesus, He will take care of the problem perfectly.”
The president of Ghana received salvation by this Word.
Mr. Muyiwa responded to the Word and was very happy as he asked questions. He promised to listen and talk about what he had heard on ‘Gospel Tonight.’
We were able to know that the Lord was making the gospel heard throughout the country of England.

Meeting an England Citizen
A large variety of people live in the international city of London. People range from African, Indian, and Arabic people. That is why it is hard to meet a native English citizen in the city of London. However, through advertising on the streets, we were able to meet native English people. Amongst the people who came by the advertising table, there were people who bought Pastor Ock Soo Park’s books, to rent the books, and some came to receive counseling for spiritual life. Some of them were people who were very concerned in front of the word, and after they listened to the gospel we preached, they attended the conference. Also, of course, there were people who wanted to attend bible studies.
Some of them were currently pastors in their own churches. At first they didn’t make known that they were pastors, but as we kept talking, they revealed that they were pastors who had even written books.
They were pastors who had written books and gone to pastor gatherings, but they didn’t know the truth of sin that the bible was talking about. Although London is the place where John Wesley, Charles Spurgeon, and more preachers of the gospel were in the past, and although their names and their books still exist in universities, the fact that the gospel wasn’t left in their hearts was very unfortunate. That was the reason we were looking forward to the conference even more.

From Disrupters to Friends
One day we were advertising on the streets when some young people came and started to bother us. They cursed and tried to pick a fight. The missionaries there sent us with a good word but they came to us again and told us we had to stop advertising there. The atmosphere got very tense and there was even a physical fight. However, that place was a place with many people and we had become close to the people around that area, so we felt that we shouldn’t make the situation worse there and moved on. One young man took the missionaries to a bar. He introduced himself as Sam. He started to talk about why he had tried to disrupt the advertising. Being a second generation Jew, he had been against Christianity. Then he found out that the missionary was a missionary working in Germany. He got very angry and tried to disrupt us even more. As we had fellowship, that young man opened up to the missionary, apologized for his actions and even promised to come to the Gracias Choir Music Festival. The next day we received an unexpected call and he invited the missionary to his friend’s house. Sam, his friend and his friend’s girlfriend was there as well. We introduced the Christmas Cantata, the Bible Seminar and was naturally able to preach the gospel.

At first, when we went out to witness on the streets, I thought, “Since I could speak English, of course I will be able to speak to the people in English.”
I started to witness with a good heart. As I was witnessing to the people, I met a lot of Muslim people. We got into arguments and sometimes people would come to the witnessing table to stop us from witnessing. People other than the Muslims also got angry at us and asked why they had to believe. As I met these kinds of people, I fell into difficulty. I didn’t know how to preach to these people and my heart had fallen into disappointment. I sat under the hot sun, and I thought, “I am a person who can’t do anything.” I was able to realize myself. No matter how well I spoke English or how well I listened to the word, I was not a person who could lead another person to God. I had no choice but to look for God and seek his grace. One day, a man came over and asked us about the will of God and why God allows bad things to happen. We answered his questions one by one, he started to have interest in the things we said. Naturally we were able to preach the gospel, and after we had finished the fellowship, he said he was thankful to us and shook our hands. We were very surprised. As we witnessed on the streets, we learned to witness not with our power but with grace. I was so very thankful that God had used me to preach the gospel to the people in London.

There was a pastor’s wife who said that she was so happy to out to witness everyday. Under the Europe sun, we did get a little burned and it was a little difficult, but we can testify that God had given us a joy by allowing us to meet the people God had prepared for us. As we were preparing for the conference we had many difficulties, however, we gained happiness and strength by meeting the people whose lives were lead by God to listen to the gospel. It is exactly one week before the London Bible Outreach. We hope that through this last week of witnessing, that God will allow us to meet more people.

 For many of these students, they would attend classes and even their teachers wouldn’t show up. Going to school brought no hope for them. And even when at home, there would be nothing to do. However, these students came to the workshop, enjoyed the program, and expressed their happiness.

Spanning high school and college, many young prospective volunteers have already registered. Among the 36 volunteers who attended last year’s English Camp, 20 of them participated in this workshop and were a great help in creating an even calmer, more positive atmosphere than last year. Currently, there are almost 150 volunteers practicing dances throughout the morning and afternoon with the guidance and leadership of last year’s volunteers.

As they continually train within their departments and soak in the spiritual development sessions during the workshop, our Haitian volunteers wholeheartedly anticipate the arrival of IYF English Camp volunteers from America.

“Okay, okay, okay! Thank you, God.”

Boyfriend, music, part-time jobs, volunteer work, yoga, drugs…..
I always found myself wanting something more. If I do all of these things, can I possible fill the emptiness inside?
Or, do I have to find something more new and more exciting in order to be happy?
When I was young, my parents had divorced. My mother granted me anything I wanted after the divorce and as time passed, the things that I wanted soon grew bigger and bigger.

Once I realized I could have anything I desired to have, I started wanting more expensive things. No matter how great the things I possessed were, the empty spot in my heart was never filled, so my mother and I moved to Hawaii, and then to the famous city of New York.

However, because I was not able to find the happiness I was looking for in New York I moved here and there until I decided to move back to New York. As I spent nearly two years trying to get rid of this emptiness, I realized that something was wrong. No matter how hard I tried, things just wouldn’t get better. There was just no use. I felt as if I were completely separated from God.

My age is now 30.

“What’s wrong?”
“How can I overcome these situations?”
In order to answer these questions, I started to try different things. I tried to get closer to God by reading the bible very diligently and going to church. I got a well-paying job by doing music which I loved so much, and at the same time, I did volunteer work at three different programs. Relying on yoga was something that I did trying to get out of the bad situations I had to encounter. If someone else would get sick, I would think, “It’s because they don’t do yoga.” And I tried for one month straight. However, it all came to an end when I was the one to fall ill.

I’ve been to the Times Square Church in Manhattan, the Tabernacle Church in Brooklyn and several other churches. I don’t remember the book’s exact title, but being connected through some religious book, I even attended the Sabbath Day Church. My spiritual life there was alright, but the book and also the church talked about money and tithes frequently. Despite all of this, I still felt like something was going wrong. I wasn’t happy at all. That was why I kept searching for churches and lived life without satisfaction, lived life just like a sinner.

“Please Come to the Bible Crusade!” One day, I was walking down the street as usual when someone said to me, “Please come to the Bible Crusade.” 『Abraham’s Faith』. I looked up to see a girl wearing a blue shirt, holding something out to me. It was a small booklet titled “Abraham’s Faith.” It was the same booklet that I had seen before, but surprisingly as I started reading, I was able to come out of what was making me miserable so much until now. I started to get curious about this book. Around that time, someone named Quan gave me a call. “Rosena, would you like to come join a bible study?” That was the first time I went to the Manhattan Church to have bible studies.

There was a young man there. He said he was the minister. That day was the very first day I had ever met him, but he told me about himself honestly, just like we had met and had been friends for a good ten years. This allowed me to open my heart and I started to talk about the things that were in my heart as well.

After that, I attended Sunday services there. During the sermon, Pastor said, “Why are you trying to lead yourself?” as he spoke with a loud voice. I was able to reflect on myself and how I had always followed my own foolish thoughts. I continued to attend the pre-bible conference and I was able to find the answers to all the things I was curious about for a long time. That was the day I realized that I was righteous. It was very easy. I didn’t have to do anything. All I did was accept the words pastor gave me.
“I don’t have any sin? I don’t even have to try?”
“Um…. Okay.”
Whenever I had questions, the minister opened the bible.
Hebrews chapter 10 verse 17 said, ‘I will remember their sins no more.’
‘Okay!’
1^st Corinthians chapter 6, verse 11 said, “But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.”
“Okay! Wow!! Thank you, God.”
That was how I became a righteous person.
I didn’t to do anything to earn it. Salvation was something I already had, but that was the moment I accepted it.

If I were to describe my life before receiving salvation, it would be like the song titled, ‘Motherless Child.’ The lyrics saying ‘I feel that I’m always alone and going further from my home’ seemed as if it were my story. Even though I had a mother, I felt as if I was always alone and becoming further and further away from God. However, inside the Lord, my song is ‘Amazing Grace.’

I have God, many brothers and sisters who were leading me home. I have found a haven for my heart, and no longer did I have to go around and look for reasons for my problems. Before, I tried to do everything diligently. I believed in myself and tried to clear all the problems myself. Now, I have completely thrown myself away. God will do all things.

Finally, the bible crusade had come to a start. I listened to the words of Pastor Ock Soo Park and I was very thankful. It was a gift from God, allowing me to rest peacefully. Although I am very busy with work, I always make time to come and listen to the word.

There’s even the Gracias Choir that brings me so much joy along with the word. To me, who has majored in music, the Gracias Choirs’ music is special. When I listen to other music, I usually listen to the pitch and the tempo, but when we listen to the music of the Gracias Choir that is played during the bible crusade, it seems as though God’s voice is reaching our wide open hearts. It is only when you throw away your own thoughts, that you can accept that beautiful melody. Their music is quite different from others’ music. Of course, people are moved by the music. Everyone is soaked into the music and they listen to the word. The call of God will cover all of New York. This is the blessing that the Bible Crusade has given to New York.

This Seminar in Manhattan, which opened in 3 years, God had been leading Brooklyn during that time but also worked in Manhattan as well.

A month and a half before the Seminar starts.

As we go out to the streets to witness, we meet many people in Manhattan but amazingly, more than we had expected, many people remembered and had been waiting for us.

Also, as we held pre-seminars for a month many new people attended and there were the works of salvation. And as we met more than 5,000 New York citizens through the Easter Cantata held in different places in the New York area, waited for the Bible Seminar.

Finally, the Bible Crusade opened its’ curtains and the people of Manhattan started to be moved.

As Tenor Tae-jik Woo sang ‘When I Was Wandering in My Dream’ he passed on the message to believe in Jesus and have Him as your savior through the lyrics ‘when I was wandering in my dream, I saw Jesus opening the eyes of the blind and took Him as my savior’ and moved the people who had attended.

The true taste of Gracias, which sublimed themselves to music by giving themselves to the Lord is in their hearts rather than the artistic skills.
Whoever it may be, when they hear their music, their hearts open.

It is because the Lord sheds grace through them.

The Choir’s performance ended in the joy of the citizens of Manhattan who filled the hall and the speaker, Pastor Ock Soo Park’s message continued next.

Pastor Ock Soo Park used ‘the man with the infirmity for 38 years’ as an example for the two ways one can receive salvation.

First, is the way of the law where the sick have their backs turned to Jesus and waited for the Pool of Bethesda to move and second, is the way of grace where Jesus worked on the man with the infirmity for 38 years because he could do nothing.

Pastor Park said our sin cannot be solved through the law but only God can perfectly forgiven and whoever believes in this, anyone can receive salvation by that faith.

“Hey, if I say you’re a chief, you’re a chief.”
“Hey, if God says you have no sin, you have no sin.”
“Hey, if God says you’re holy, you’re holy.”
“Hey, if God says you’re righteous, you’re righteous.”
As he said this, he then shouted, “Everyone, this is faith. I wish you will believe in God.”

Even after the sermon, the Manhattan citizens did not leave and had personal counseling.

The hall was packed of attendees having personal counseling here and there and some got into groups because there was not enough counselors.

I could not believe when I saw how the New York citizens who are always being chased by time and just keep going only looking forward were listening with all their hearts in front of the word of God.

A few years ago, God had given a promise to His servant.

That is for 500 churches to be established in America and that promised is being fulfilled in Manhattan.

The Cantata Tour, English Camp, Easter Cantata and the 2013 Bible Crusade, which started today, are busily moving around America without rest within God’s good promise.

“Hey, if God says it’s possible, then it is.”

We are happy because we believe in this God.

“I felt like I was listening to the songs of angels during the performance.
Especially, the woman’s solo moved my heart.
The Pastor’s sermon was great, too.
The bible is God’s heart and if we accept that heart, we become one with God. I had individual counseling with someone and I got to find out that even my future sins have been paid for.

So, about sin, I have nothing to worry.

The beautiful bowing of a violin opened an unforgettable Easter celebration.
Hundreds of people from Huntington and around Long Island opened their ears, eyes and hearts to the award-winning Gracias Choir this past Easter weekend as they presented the Gracias Easter Cantata musical at Mahanaim School of Music in Huntington.
The Gracias Choir is an 80-member choral and orchestral group founded in South Korea by Pastor Ock Soo Park. The choir has traveled to and performed in 40 countries over a 13-year span, delivering messages of hope through their touching musical performances.
Gracias Choir’s Easter Cantata is an intimate, musical re-enactment of the last days, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Among the hymns performed by the choir were Remember Me, Pie Yesu, and On a Hill Far Away.
Terry Lee Henderson, Director of Support for Mahanaim School of Music and organizer of the event, said that there were a few messages he hoped viewers would take away from the performance.
“Easter is a time where people start to reflect upon what Jesus has accomplished for them,” said Henderson. “Through that they are able to have a source of hope enter their heart.”
However, while Henderson understands that everyone who attends the Easter Cantata musical may not be of the Christian faith, he believes there is a deeper message that comes through in the performance that anyone can take in, regardless of religious beliefs.
“That is why we have incorporated the acting scenes, where through the actual depiction of the story, we are hoping that the audience will take the vision of hope and selfless love, of why Jesus died,” said Henderson.
This was the second consecutive year that Mahanaim School of Music hosted the musical, which was free to attend for the community.
“It was a beautiful experience and I hope to attend more of their shows,” said Erika Sanago, who came with her family from Corona, Queens.
The message Sanago took away upon the conclusion of the musical was that, “we should live day-by-day being thankful.”
Fedora Moncada, another attendee from the Bronx said, “The message I received was the salvation. Personally, it was something I could identify with.”

On March 10th, before the feelings of joy and happiness from the previous night’s performance could even wear off, the staff woke early in the morning to pack all of the equipment and head to Brooklyn, NY.  Having heard the news about the 2013 Easter Cantata, Pastor Juan Castillo prepared to host the Cantata as well. Instead of his church, Pastor Castillo rented a public elementary school with a very good performance environment. Also, he didn’t just invite the congregation members and their families, but also actively promoted the concert so that many people could attend and share this amazing experience.

The orchestra’s playing in harmony with the Gracias choir’s beautiful tunes flowed through the audience and gave them a peace that their hearts had never known before. More than anything, after the audience saw the death and resurrection of Jesus through the Easter Cantata, they gave heartfelt applause after every song.

People continued to applaud even long after the Gracias Choir had left the stage with the last encore song, showing how much the performance touched their hearts.

Right after the performance, Pastor Lee who currently ministering in Brooklyn Church started to deliver the message, saying, “Everyone, it has been 20 years since I received salvation.” The audience listened intently with open hearts from the music.

Through many New Testament examples found in Romans and Hebrews, Pastor Lee delivered the message about the power of Jesus which is enough to conquer not only all hardships and problems, but even the suffering and pain that comes from losing everything.

“Through the works of Jesus you are cleansed from sins.

Through the works of Jesus you are holy.

Through the works of Jesus you are righteous.”

When he asked, “Then, do you believe that you are righteous?” The audience replied with one voice saying, “Amen.” It was such moving moment that can’t be described in words.

Q: How was the performance of the choir?

A: The music of choir was … (Sobbing) the Pastor said that we became righteous. I liked that Word very much.

These people listened to the good news. It is a truth that they can’t listen to anywhere else in the world. Today may have been the first and last chance for them to listen to this gospel. Thinking about this, we have been together with the church and the gospel for a long time, so we might not appreciate the power of the gospel as much. But looking at those people sitting there, we could be reminded of how precious the gospel is.

Brentwood has a population of 60,000 people, 54% of which are Hispanic. It is one of the largest Hispanic residential areas in Long Island. There are very many pure people looking for God, but among the dozens of churches that line the streets, it is difficult to find one that conveys the true Gospel.

Those thirsting for the Word were shocked when they heard the precise and fresh message of the Easter Cantata. Also, the presence of the choir brought great excitement for those who have had little opportunity to listen to live classical music. Starting with the cantata’s prelude and then moving into the different hymns and pieces, the audience sang along and little by little we could see them becoming engulfed in the music and lyrics.

The climax of the show, as Jesus with his flesh ripped and torn hung on the cross, were the words, “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed (Isaiah 53:5). The words resonated throughout the auditorium as the hearts of the audience were filled with thankfulness for the love of God who did not spare, but rather sent His only son for our sins.

That day, Good News New Jersey Church’s Pastor Seongju Jo preached using the example of Thomas who didn’t believe that Jesus had resurrected from the dead. These words testified the Gospel to the hearts of the many people in the audience who have been suffering because they did not believe the Word that Jesus was sent to this earth to wash away our sins once and for all. “Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because you have seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed (John 20:29).” Through the scripture, the hopeful message conveying the heart to believe this Word that saves us from sin knocked on the hearts of all who listened.

We met many people who yearned to meet God, each through their different forms and methods, but continued to live in pain because they didn’t know the way. It was sad to see so many people living like that, but through this 2013 Easter Cantata, God’s will and the precise Gospel are being preached. Thus, even on this burdensome and sometimes difficult path, we can find happiness.

“And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about a hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah’s womb.” (Romans 4:19)

Abraham was not a person who possessed this kind of faith from the beginning. God promised Abraham, “I shall multiply your descendants like the stars in the sky,” and “By your seed all the multitudes shall be blessed.” This is what God promised Abraham and after receiving this promise, Abraham rejoiced and left his country, his family and his father’s house and departed for the land of Canaan. Abraham was 75-years-old when he received God’s promise and waited for God to give him a son. However, although 10 years passed, he did not have a son.

Abraham then thought to himself, “Ah, did God forget to give me a son? Can I truly have a son?” Sarah then spoke to Abraham, “I think that if you lie with our maidservant Hagar, you can have a child.” Rather than the promise of God, Abraham’s heart was more enticed by his humanistic thoughts. “God did say that he would give me a son, but my wife Sarah is too old. It is impossible for her to conceive. Should I have a son through my maidservant Hagar?” These were the thoughts that came from a human being who looked at the situation. Abraham then had Ishmael through Hagar.

God wanted Abraham to have a child, and through that child he wanted Abraham to have many descendants like the sand in the sea and wanted the precious work of Jesus Christ being born amongst his descendants. God said to Abraham, “Your wife Sarah shall have a son.” Abraham’s thoughts matched his heart; however the Word of God did not. Abraham then laughed and said, “How can someone who is a hundred years old have a child? Sarah is ninety, it doesn’t make sense.” Abraham expressed a different heart from God. God wanted to plant his heart inside of Abraham. “I will give you as many descendants as the stars in the sky and the sand in the sea, and through Jesus’ birth all of the multitudes shall be blessed.” God showed Abraham his will. However Abraham said, “My wife is too old. How can my wife bear a child?” God’s heart and Abraham’s heart was different.

Nevertheless, God continued to plant his heart inside of Abraham. “Is there anything too difficult for the Lord? Sarah your wife shall bear you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac.” This is when Abraham’s heart began to change. “That’s right; if God says he will give me a child then I can have a son.” This heart began to arise within Abraham. His heart then became one with God’s, and Abraham who before looked at his situation, now thought, “What matters if I am old? Who cares if I am 100-years-old or even 1000-years-old? If God says he will do it then he can do it.” Abraham went beyond his thoughts, and though it did not match his thoughts he began to have the faith to believe in God. He became a man of faith who believed in not only the possible, but also in the impossible. From that point on, God gave strength to Abraham and to Sarah and enabled her to give birth to Isaac.

Just as God worked for Abraham, today, to everyone who has gathered here, to those around the world who are listening to this broadcast, God wants to accomplish this work inside of you. In your eyes it may seem impossible, it may not make sense, it may not seem viable, however I hope that you will say, “God can do it,” and have the same heart as God so that your hearts may rise.

Do not only look at your weak and lacking self, but say, “I have God with me. I am lacking, I am incompetent, however if God works then I can do it.” Everyone, God brings about that kind of faith in your hearts. Up until the year 2012 we lived according to our thoughts. In 2013, I hope that you will overcome your knowledge and limitations, believe in God and have the same heart as Him and receive the precious grace of God working inside of your heart. To all those who have gathered here, to the brothers and sisters all over the world who are listening to this broadcast; starting from 2013 we are not human beings. We are God’s tool. If God carries us and works, then even we foolish human beings will do works of power through being held by God’s hand. God will give us the heart he gave Abraham, and will make us work with faith in God and not look at our situation. I hope that all of you may become such people.
