“And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.”

(Luke 24:47)

Pastor Ock Soo Park delivers the 2019 new year message in Uganda

The 2019 New Year Message in Uganda will be one to remember. God did not waste any time fulfilling the promise He gave the Good News Mission church through Pastor Ock Soo Park. Pastor Park was invited to Uganda to deliver the 2019 New Year Message at the Passover Festival held at Mandela National Stadium on Monday December 31, 2018. The invitation was a year in the making, as Apostle Dr. Joseph Serwadda attended the CLF meeting held at the Seoul Bible Seminar in South Korea in November of 2017. Through listening to the Gospel through Pastor Park’s sermons, having individual fellowship with Pastor Park, and through his homestay experience, Apostle Dr. Serwadda came to see Pastor Ock Soo Park as the servant of God. With this heart, Apostle Dr. Serwadda invited Pastor Ock Soo Park as the main guest speaker, along with the Gracias Choir.

Seeing the promise God gave the church, it was no coincidence God opened this amazing door for the 2018-2019 New Year. The very first event hosted by Apostle Dr. Serwadda started in 2002 in commemoration of Uganda’s Independence. However, this year’s event, called the “Passover Festival” to mark the passing from 2018 to 2019, was the biggest event ever held at the Mandela Stadium, with an attendance of 100,000 people, including the Deputy Speaker of Parliament and Christian leaders from various countries. The Festival and Pastor Ock Soo Park’s sermon was broadcasted live in 2 local TV stations and 5 radio stations nationwide.

Mandela National Stadium is an outdoor stadium. When Pastor Ock Soo Park and the Gracias Choir arrived in Uganda early in the morning of December 31st, it was raining. The fore-cast was 90% chance of rain for the entire day. Around 6am, Pastor Ock Soo Park held a prayer service with the missionaries from the surrounding countries. Everyone prayed for God to stop the rain so that many people would be able to hear the Gospel. As the pastors prayed, the sun rose, and when the prayer service was opened, everyone opened their eyes to a completely clear sky. God changed the weather to allow many people to hear the Gospel.

As Pastor Ock Soo Park preached the Gospel proclaiming, “Unite your hearts with God. Accept the Jesus who cleansed me, sanctified me, and justified me. God has made you righteous! Accept those words. That is having one heart with God. God will bless Uganda!” the stadium filled with shouts of, “Amen!” and, “Hallelujah!” from the crowd. God not only left His mark in Christian history on December 31, 2018, but God also showed the world and the church how greatly God will fulfil His New Year’s promise. God even answered His promise on the very first day of the New Year. God revealed His heart of wanting to preach the Gospel through those who are saved in 2019.
